The Manager and the Dog shooter

The Navy makes us a jack of all trades by employing us in all kinds of work.

Suresh was a young, Energetic Artificer. As an EAAR4 he was in INAS 300. Life was hectic with Embarkations on Vikrant/Viraat, Night flying etc.etc

One fine day, after being promoted to EAAR3, he was transferred to ALD,(Air Electrical Department)of INS Hansa. He was too happy as he was a thorough professional and yearned to learn indepth of the Radar and communication systems while working on the Seaharrier Avionics Equipment at the ALD.

He borrowed the technical manuals from the Library and started studying the circuit
diagrams. He took great interest in the works going on in the Radar bay and slowly started mastering the equipment.

One day his Departmental Officer called him and said:"Suresh, I have been observing you. You seem to be quite energetic and enthusiastic and take great interest in whatever job you do".

Suresh felt something fishy as the Departmental Officer never had the habit of praising anybody so much. He kept shaking his head for whatever his Departmental Officer was telling anticipating a "Nuclear Bomb" any time.

His Departmental Officer continued, "I would like to utilise your potential for a broader cause. As you know the Cinema Hall (RAJHANS) is under our department and the Manager, V Kumar, CHELAR is proceeding on leave. I want you to take over the duties from him."

Suresh thought for a while and replied, "Sir, I am still in the learning stage of the works inthe Radar. Moreover, the Seaharrier Radar is a subject of great interest to me. Please spare me Sir."

The Departmental Officer started convincing him, "Chiefsaab, You should understand that the position of Cinema hall Manager is a position of Pride and commands great respect. In the civil, people compete with one another to become a Cinema Hall manager. Here I am giving you that position free of cost and you are rejecting it because you are not realising the value of it."

Suresh some how convinced his Departmental officer. Finally his Departmental Officer agreed and detailed someone else for that job.

After a week Suresh was going through the daily order when he found an entry:
"Stray dog menace has increased in the Living and operation areas. All departments are to detail one Senior Sailor and junior sailor each for Stray Dog Shooting".

Ignoring the daily order entry with a smile, Suresh became busy with his work on the
Radar. He was working on an equipment that had been giving sleepless nights to all. He had thoroughly gone through the trouble shooting procedures and diagrams in the manuals and had somehow managed to pinpoint the cause of the trouble and was in the final stages of
bringing it on line. 1 or 2 more tests and the equipment can be certified serviceable.

While he was busy with the job, the Masterchief In charge of Radar Bay walked in and said:

"Chiefsaab, Please report to Gunnery office Tomorrow Morning in No.10s. You have been detailed for Stray Dog Shooting."

Shocked, Suresh looked at the Master chief incharge, who meanwhile understood the
reason for Suresh's shocked look.

He smiled saying ,"Stray Dog Shooting is more important than Seaharrier Radar Chiefsaab" and walked away.

Next one week, Suresh, in No.10s with boots and berret cap with a rifle in hand was busy with his team running behind stray dogs in the hot sun to shootdown and eliminate them.
