An Ode to the Mighty TU-142 M
The decommissioning of this mighty Albatross
Is no doubt a very big loss
During her long Association
with the Indian Naval Aviation
She has on every Occasion
Stood up for our lovely Nation
Though she looked so calm
She was the back bone of the Naval Air Arm
I knew her like the back of my palm
She was a flying machine so warm
Who never caused any serious harm
She was the Temple of my Profession
Where I Practised Perfection
Gained the virtue of Intuition
Lost the Habit of Dereliction
And Earned the feeling of Compassion
Being a man of Histrionics
I learnt the basics of Electronics
Worked on some Hydraulics
With little bit of Mechatronics
Finally mastering the Avionics
Oh queen of the Indian sky
I still don’t know why
The news that you stopped to fly
made me scream and cry
leaving me high and dry
